BoE: Super Thursday is here - Investec

Research Team at Investec, suggests that the main event of the day is 'Super Thursday' at midday where the Bank of England are likely to keep interest rates and QE on hold, and will release the minutes alongside that should continue to see an 8-1 vote.

Key Quotes

“Since it is Super Thursday we also have the Quarterly Inflation Report, including new inflation and economic projections, as well as a press conference with Governor Carney.

With the UK curve not only pricing in no rate hike for almost 2 years, but pricing in the risk of a rate cut - there is plenty of scope for the Bank of England to deliver a hawkish surprise and warn inflation could overshoot in 3 years on current market expectations.

Equally, the recent fall of the Pound should bring some comfort to the committee, although turbulent global financial conditions and the looming EU referendum should be enough to keep the committee balanced and warning of downside risks.”
