Wall Street closes little changed on Tuesday

Major equity indexes in the United States, with the exception of the Nasdaq Composite Index, closed the day virtually unchanged on Tuesday as the mixed macro data and the falling crude oil prices capped the early gains.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 2.19 points, or 0.01%, to 20,979.75. After touching its all-time high at 2,405.77, the S&P 500 closed the day 1.65 points, or 0.07%, lower at 2,400.67. Finally, fueled by another solid performance of the technology shares, the heavy-tech Nasdaq Composite gained 20.20 points, or 0.33%, to 6,169.87 after the chip producer AMD Micro Devices Inc. announced a new licensing agreement, gaining 12% on Tuesday.
