Merkel - EU should not rely on US, UK

German Chancellor Merkel warned Sunday that the European Union should not completely depend on the US and the UK and must make its own destiny. 

“The times in which we can fully count on others are somewhat over, as I have experienced in the past few days... We Europeans must really take our destiny into our own hands”, Merkel said. 

Merkel expressed frustration after the G-7 meeting and said the talks were “very unsatisfactory”.
