US stocks edge higher amid cautious trade ahead of UK election, ECB & Comey's testimony
US stock markets witnessed a steady opening on Wednesday, with all the three major indices gaining some traction during opening hour of trade.
At the time of writing, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained over 35-points to 21,173, while broader S&P 500 Index added 4-points to 2,434. Meanwhile, tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index climbed around 20-points but held marginally below the 6,300 mark.
The up-move came ahead of a trio of major political and economic event risks on Thursday - the UK general election, European Central Bank monetary policy meeting and former FBI Director James Comey's testimony on alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US Presidential elections.
Any of the three events could trigger a fresh bout of volatility across global financial markets. Hence, investors are likely to remain cautious and brace for a potentially volatile session on Thursday.
