US health official Fauci: COVID-19 vaccines entering phase 3 trial end of July

"COVID-19 vaccines will enter phase 3 trials at the end of July," Dr Anthony Fauci, director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) on Thursday.

Dr Fauci further noted that other vaccines will start trials in August, September and October. "We may at least be able to know whether we're dealing with a safe and effective vaccine by early winter, late winter, or beginning of 2021."

Market reaction
